i'm simply busting to show you my latest antique find!!!
You all know how much i love antique quilts, right??
Well.. i'm terribly excited about the 'newest' addition to my antique quilt collection.
and here 'tis...
it's a nine patch 'make-do' crib quilt from the mid 19th century...
from 1851 to be precise... can you believe it??!!
and here's a few close-up shots of the blocks...
love those poison greens...
and the delightful floral chintz...
not to mention the silky plaids...
lots of lovely scrappy make-do blocks, made (most probably) from clothing scraps & leftovers.
and here's a few more interesting combinations of chintz & cotton prints.
i'm still pinching myself lol!!.. i can't believe it's mine :)))

Lovely! Lucky you. I love the browns in the old quilts.

The signature block with the date makes this a very good find. Something to treasure for sure.
