It's amazing what a difference a week makes, and it feels so good to be back in my craft studio, doing what i love doing.. playing with fabric and sewing.
But before i continue, i wish to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all your emails, texts and messages of concern & support, over the past week. It meant so much to me and i am truly grateful to each and everyone... thank you.
My heart did a little skippety-skip as i carried my dear old elna & singer featherweight, out of the car, and back into my craft studio, last Saturday. I was so happy to be able to pop them back in their possies and plug them in, ready to go.
I was itching to sew and i couldn't wait to get started on this month's SQ challenge.. the Bear's Paw quilt. Having already made Kathy's Bear's Paw quilt back in 2011, i decided i would make a mini version this time.
I just happen to have a stack of leftover HST's and i found just the right size (1 1/2"), for the project. Then i rummaged through my fabric scraps until i found four pieces for the paw centre blocks.. i cut them 2 1/2".
it felt good to be able to use up some of my fabric scraps.. there's still lots more where they came from.
next, it was time to join the four paw blocks, but first i had to decide on the sashing and the outer border...
and here's the finished quilt top...
quilted and bound this little cutie measures 12" x 12" finished.
and here's a pic of momma bear's paw and baby bear's paw, together.
here's my sweet little featherweight.. i love sewing my small quilts on her.. she purrs along so sweetly...
Do you find that you are at your happiest when you're doing something creative? You completely zone out and the stresses simply melt away? Well, that's what happens to me when i'm sewing.. i lose myself in what i'm doing, it's the BEST therapy.
and here's what i'm working on today... CCQ block 11
sitting and stitching.. i couldn't be happier.
Wishing all my Aussie friends a Happy Australia Day....
