If you know me then you'll know how much i love participating in QALs and SALs.. i especially enjoy the mystery ones :))
The most recent being Lori's Humble Quilts mystery quilt-along by the name of Quilters Madder.
As the name implies it was all about using those lovely rich madder prints with b&w shirtings... and just a hint of pink.
What fun, pulling out all the madders...
and the b&w shirtings, especially the cute conversational prints which i collect (and rarely use)...
ta-da...
the finished flimsy :))
This quilt finished a tad bigger than the minis i'm used to making ~ 24 x 24
and quilting it was a little cumbersome, but i must admit i'm very happy with the results..
it's got a lovely vintage appearance and i haven't even washed it yet :))
to date, this is my seventh QAL with Lori and i've loved each and every one... thanks Lori ❤❤

Meanwhile, let me bring you up to date on the progress of another mystery sew-along that i'm working on... Cheri's 'A Blackbird Gathering' SAL.
It started back in June and finishing in November... eeeek that's this month, already!
You have already seen June's Block #1 ... i can't believe it's been five months!!
So, here are the corresponding months' wool applique blocks.
July ~ Block #2...
August ~ Block #3...
September ~ Block #4...
October ~ Block #5...
Blocks 1, 2 & 3 pieced & joined...
All blocks pieced and joined... waiting for the border...
which...
is the next, and final step in this fun SAL.
Cheri will reveal it on the 10th, which is next week... i can't wait :))
Good morning Marian! Thank you so much for the lovely comment on my blog! I've just spent a few minutes looking through your blog and I loved every moment! The vintage quilts and other items at QITB are fabulous! Thanks for the tour! And Cheri's mystery SAL is absolutely darling!! Is there a pattern available? I'm not familiar with Cheri. Also, your photography is stunning! I love how you use props and other items to set off your creations!
Your BW shirting fabrics in the Madders are fabulous!
Have a wonderful day!
Also, I would like to follow your blog, but not sure how to do it.

Beautiful job on Quilters Madder, Marian. I know what you mean about it being bigger. Though some of Lori's other SAL quilts have been this size, it seems the pieces were smaller. That said, I made mine half size again, like I did on the last one. Haven't quilted it yet.
Yours does look lovely and vintage!
Oh, Cheri's SAL is wonderful! As is her style, it has a great prim vibe.
I used to do some of her SALs when they were on her blog, but not being on Facebook, I haven't seen this. Thanks for sharing it. Love it!

Marian, I absolutely love your Madder red quilt. The shirtings really make it look vintage. Also love the "conversational" prints, and how they add whimsy. They're hard to find for me locally, but they add so much charm!

Your QM quilt looks great, Marian. I especially like the tan "light" in the upper right. It's amazing the difference quilting makes: it was great before quilting but even better after! Did you quilt by hand or machine?
Your Blackbird Gathering blocks are so appealing. I followed Cheri on Facebook but couldn't make the decision to make this quilt. Seeing all the finished ones on Facebook and at several blogs makes me want to make one. Maybe this winter....

Love your Quilters Madder!! When I was done with it I thought it was a tad big too. I'm using it as a table topper and it's great!
Thanks for sewing along and always being so encouraging.
